Coming to the machine’s own aspects, the first thing to consider is the Laser power. We are going to focus on Fiber Lasers, being the most economical solution. It’s always advisable to use the optimum Laser power to cut the metal. Fiber Laser cutting machines are available at various power options right from 400W to 3kW and even beyond. And these machines have their own cutting capabilities and could even deliver a cutting quality much equal to the international standards.
A 400 W Laser machine could cut a 4mm of SS and 6 mm of MS wherein 1 kW, 1.5 kW, 2kW and 3kW has their own capability. It’s not entirely true that a 3kW Laser machine is required to cut a 5mm ss. It’s not necessary to use that much power. It abruptly depends on the material consumption. If 80% of the fabrication shop’s requirement is 10mm or less, it’s advisable to go for a 1.5 kW Fiber Laser machine so that, it’s easy to derive the optimum output from it. If 3kW Fiber Laser is an option for the same work profile, the return on investment will be delayed.
